Club2Class Knowledge Base

Add a Boat to a Class

Overview

Boats are an integral part of your Class structure. Both Club and Class administrators can manage the boats that belong to a Class.

Club administrators can manage boat data for Classes in their Club or their Club's Special Events from their Class Management Dashboard and Special Event Management Dashboard found in their Club Administrator Tools.

Class administrators can manage the boats in a Class directly from their Class Administrator Tools.

Boat data is used in Club2Class for crew matching, race series scoring and the display of results.

For more information on how boat data is used in crew matching emails and responses please visit this knowledge base article.

For more information on how boat data is used in the display of race results display please visit this knowledge base article.

Top Tip! If you add a boat to a Class during a race series you will need to re-score the series for any new boat data (including competitor data) to be captured in the series results.

Boat Data

Below is a description of each of the fields you can specify when adding a boat, and how Club2Class uses these fields.

Sail Number and Boat Class are required fields, the rest are optional.

Boat Information
Field Optional Description
Boat Class No Used in our scoring algorithms and crew matching. Different ratings can be defined for a Boat Class within different Rating Systems. The Boat Class of a boat is also used by our crew matching functions to ascertain how many crew sail a boat.
Sail Number No Used to uniquely identify a boat within its Class in conjunction with a boat's Boat Class.
Boat Name Yes Used in result, event emails and crew matching.
Tally Yes Used by some clubs to identify boats and for race recording.
Override Time Correction Factor Yes Overrides any Time Correction Factor specified for this boat via a Rating System. The Time Correction Factor is used to multiply elapsed times to produce corrected times for race result calculations. The Time Correction Factor for a boat is usually determined from a boat's Boat Class and the Rating System used for a race series. If the Override Time Correction Factor is specified for a boat in a Class then that will be used to calculate all elapsed times for all race series for this boat in this Class. You cannot specify an Override Time Correction Factor if you have not specified an Override Display Rating too.
Override Display Rating Yes Overrides any Display Rating specified for this boat via a Rating System. The Display Rating is shown in race results and is the widely understood format for rating information. For example, using the RYA PY system a Display Rating might be 1,000. This would correspond to a Time Correction Factor of 1. The Override Display Rating if used should correspond to the Override Time Correction factor via a ratings formula. You cannot specify an Override Display Rating if you have not specified an Override Time Correction Factor too.
Entry Information

Entry information is used in the display of race results.

Field Optional Description
Country Yes Used in the display of results. Please select from the dropdown menu.
Entrants Yes A free form text field used for listing competitor information in any way you wish. If Entrants information is specified it will override any Helm, Crew, Owner and Class Member data in result displays.
Category 1 / Category 2 Yes Used to further categorize results for this boat. For example, you may wish to categorize the boat as being part of a Gold, Silver or Bronze fleet or classify it as qualifying for a specific prize category such as Youth Helm.
Competitor Information

Competitor information is ONLY used in the display of race results if the Entrants field above is not populated.

Field Optional Description
Helm / Crew /Owner Details Yes Identifies helm, crew and/or owner. These details are displayed in series results and race results. These details are not shown in result displays if this boat's Entrants field is populated.
